Self Portraits

These drawings all depict various aspects of the artist. “Self Portrait” and “Collage Self Portrait” are more traditional portrait studies. “Self Portrait” emphasizes color and light, while “Collage Self Portrait” focuses on simplification and stylization of the form into blocks of various shades of grey.

“Arachnid” incorporates surrealist forms of spider legs and strands of web, hinting at the unnatural and feared. The figure gazes out confrontationally, challenging the viewer.

“Anxiety” delves into the artist’s mind and struggles with mental health. The swirling forms and tense atmosphere are a physical manifestation of the anxiety they feel.
